Horizontal directional drilling creates an underground path for installing pipes and conduits. It provides an alternative for crossings beneath roads, waterways and areas where surface disturbance should be reduced.

The method is selected according to ground conditions, the planned route, existing utilities and pipe characteristics. A technical assessment establishes a suitable construction solution for the project.

How the installation works

A guided pilot bore establishes the route. The bore is then enlarged and the pipe is pulled into the prepared space. The work requires defined working areas and access points; it does not eliminate all excavation.
